Cancun (8 to 9 February)

We left the UK on the 8th of February and arrived in Cancun on the same day. We took a bus to Valladolid the next day.

Valladolid (9 to 13 February)

10 February

We went on a trip to Ekʼ Balam, an ancient Yucatec-Maya archaeological site, and a couple of cenotes around Valladolid. Cenotes are water-filled sinkholes that people swim in.

We went on a trip to Chichen Itza, a pre-Columbian city built by the Mayans.

We were supposed to fly to Guadalajara from Oaxaca, but had to change our plans due to ongoing cartel violence in the area, so we spent a couple of days in Cancun instead.

Mexico City (28 February to 5 March)

We visited the National Anthropology Museum in Mexico City. The highlight was the 24,000 kg Aztec sun stone.
